The Department of Culture of the City of Caravaca de la Cruz, through the Municipal Library and in collaboration with the Reading Club 'La Candela', continues this Thursday, November 16, at 20.00, with the 'Encounters with author '
On this occasion, will be starring the writer Montserrat Abumalham, who will present his story book 'De la Ceiba and Quetzal', in the auditorium of the House of Culture 'Emilio Sáez'.
'De la Ceiba y el Quetzal' is a selection of thirteen stories inspired by the daily life of any country in Central America.
Thirteen stories that overwhelm the reader by the normality with which the difficulties and hardships with which the characters live and the integrity with which they respond are addressed.
Montserrat Abumalham constructs a carefully ordered story, with clean nuances, natural language and twists of the mestizo origin of his stories.
Women are the main protagonists of the book;
their role in a society in which they are silent protagonists and their capacity to respond to the harsh circumstances that normality assigns them.
The publication has been published for the benefit of the Tacaná Association for development cooperation and the collection of its sale is entirely destined to finance its collaborative projects.
Montserrat Abumalham, doctor in Semitic Philology and graduated in French Philology, has developed her professional activity at the Complutense University of Madrid, where she has been a full professor of Arab and Islamic Studies and has directed the magazine 'Anaquel' and the University Institute of Sciences of the Religions.
She is an honorary member of the Spanish Society of Religious Sciences and has been vice president of the International Association for History of Religions.
