The awards ceremony was enlivened by the duo 'Hispania: Verso y madera', composed by María Reyes Aznar and Ramón Vergara
Coinciding with the festivity of San Juan de la Cruz, patron of Spanish-speaking poets, the Department of Culture of the City of Caravaca de la Cruz presented the 'Albacara' awards, youth literary contest considered one of the oldest in Spain within its category.
The Discalced Carmelite Fathers celebrated this event for the first time in 1972 and for years it has been the Caravaqueño Consistory, through the Municipal Library, which is in charge of its organization and convocation.
In this edition was awarded, within the Narrative category of the second age category, the story entitled 'Letters of a teenager', which proved the escrow, turned out to be the author Estela Verdejo Navarro, third-year student of Secondary education, in the 'Ginés Pérez Chirinos'.
Likewise, the qualifying jury awarded another prize in the Narrative category of the third category, for the work 'Vendido', by María Sánchez López, a second-year student of Bachiller, from the San Juan de la Cruz institute.
After the opening of the act by the councilman of Culture, Oscar Martinez, the secretary of the jury, Juan Antonio Martinez Piqueras, read the minutes of the decision of the jury, awarding diplomas and lots of books to all participants to encourage them to continue in his fondness for Literature.
The Superior of the Discalced Carmelites of Caravaca, Father Pascual Gil, also spoke, evoking the figure of the poet and mystic San Juan de la Cruz and his connection with Caravaca de la Cruz, as well as the relationship between the spiritual canticle and the ancient convent of San Jerónimo, located in the same place that now occupies the House of Culture 'Emilio Sáez', where the prizes were given.
The Department of Culture also proceeded to the delivery of diplomas to students of the Taller de Verso, taught at the Municipal Library.
The award ceremony of the Albacara Literary Competition was completed with the performance of the duo 'Hispania Verso y Madera', composed by the artists María Reyes Aznar and Ramón Vergara.
