El Bando de los Caballos del Vino incorporates the new technologies applied to the care and maintenance of horses, with the development and implementation of a mobile application (APP) that measures different variables on the health and physical form of the animal.
To this end, its president, Juan Damián Martínez, has signed an agreement with the Murcian company EqMetrics, which has received the advice of Dr. Carla Aguirre, a veterinarian at the Clinical Hospital of the University of Murcia.
This system -which was presented at the Casa-Museo de los Caballos del Vino with the presence of the mayor of Caravaca de la Cruz, José Moreno, and the councilman of Festejos, Óscar Martínez- allows horses to be valued during training sessions, transmitting in real time values such as heart rate, temperature, movement and other measurements that will be controlled and interpreted by the trainer, the veterinarian or the owner.
In this sense, the University of Murcia, through its Veterinary Faculty, is developing a study, with the different variables that this APP controls, in a situation of rest, training and effort in the race.
"In this way, the health of the horse is more controlled and its performance is improved," said Juan Damián Martínez, who said that the side is closing another agreement with the University of Murcia to continue working in this regard and that the supporters clubs horsemen can improve the performance of their horses with the information that will be provided on the conclusions of the data obtained.
