The City of Caravaca de la Cruz is carrying out renovation works in the locker rooms and toilets of the Juan Carlos I sports courts, through an employment program in which seven workers participate.

This action has a total budget of 143,677 euros, of which 90,000 are municipal contributions and the remaining 54,000 are subsidized by the Regional Employment and Training Service (SEF) and the European Social Fund (ESF).

The Councilors of Works, Enrique Fuentes, and Employment, Julia Giménez, visited the facilities today and reported that this project has allowed the hiring of a bricklayer, a plumber and five construction workers, who were unemployed and since last November they work for a period of six months in the comprehensive rehabilitation of this municipal space.

"It is a building that presented a poor state, with many needs, since practically had not acted on it since its inception, in 1975", detailed Enrique Fuentes.

The works, which will last until the end of next May, are the lifting and execution of the roof, installation of metalwork, placement of new pavement and tiling in storage, counseling and changing rooms, facade repair and new installation of electricity and plumbing, among other actions.

On the other hand, the City of Caravaca de la Cruz, through its Department of Employment, will start next March other local public employment programs for long-term unemployed, for which they will hire a receptionist assigned to the municipal department of tourism, three painters for embellishment of urban elements and four construction laborers for specific adjustments in museums and municipal buildings.

In addition, another mixed employment and training program has been granted, consisting of the specialties of nurseries and gardening and cleaning of open spaces and industrial facilities, in which 23 people will participate, including student-workers, teachers and administrative staff.
