The town halls of Caravaca de la Cruz and Vélez Blanco are working on the recovery of the historic pilgrimage road that links both municipalities.
The deputy mayor and councilor of Culture, Tourism and Finance in the City Council of Vélez Blanco, Dietmar Roth, went to the Caravaqueño Consistory to hold a meeting with the second deputy mayor and councilor of Urbanism, Environment, Agriculture and Pedanías, Enrique Sources, in order to study the route and plan the marking tasks.
"This road will have its own logo and information panels at the beginning and end of the journey," as reported by Enrique Fuentes, who pointed out that, like the "Camino de San Juan de la Cruz" that starts in Beas de Segura, this proposal aims to reinforce the links that have historically linked Caravaca de la Cruz with the natural region formed by towns in the provinces of Murcia, Albacete, Jaén, Almería and Granada.
The Comarca de los Vélez is a territory full of contrasts.
Its location, north of Almería;
and its geographical characteristics;
They make these lands a natural step between the Levante area and Andalusia.
