The sector of the regional footwear, that exported in 2017 by value of 101 million euros, concentrates 70% of the companies in the Region of the Northwest, especially in Caravaca de la Cruz
The Center Multiservicios de Empresas of the Industrial Estate of Cavila, where the headquarters of the Footwear Industries Association 'Calzia', hosted a working meeting with about 40 footwear and fashion accessories, in which the Ministry of Employment, Universities and Companies exposed the strategic lines of the 'Agenda for the Industrial and Technological Impulse', of the Institute of Development (INFO),
In this meeting -in which the challenges and needs of the sector were also analyzed- the mayor of Caravaca de la Cruz, José Moreno, participated. He emphasized that the object of the meeting was "to establish new ways of collaboration to continue driving the companies of footwear of the Region of the Northwest, that represent a 70% of the sector in the Region of Murcia ".
The mayor also thanked the work being carried out by the association 'Calzia', which is committed to innovation and product quality, as well as training for employment, allowing the improvement of working conditions, eliminating precariousness.
During the meeting the Minister of Employment, Universities and Enterprise, Juan Hernandez, said that "internationalized companies are more productive, and in this sense the footwear sector has internationalization as a fundamental tool for its development, to strengthen its production and to improve its competitiveness ".
In the last five years, INFO has promoted the development of a total of 40 companies in this sector, which are concentrated in the Northwest area, with aid worth 3.6 million euros and a non-refundable grant of 1 , 2 million euros.
This aid has allowed to maintain a total of 944 jobs and generate 58 new jobs.
On the other hand, the next week will start in Caravaca 'aparado' and 'sewed' courses, organized by 'Calzia' and approved and financed by the Regional Employment and Training Service (SEF).
These courses will be taught at the Municipal Center for Employment and Training, under an agreement of assignment of facilities recently signed between the City of Caravaca and the Association 'Calzia'.
The footwear companies of the Region of Murcia exported in 2017 worth 110 million euros, with a growth of 1% compared to 2016, in a context where the main producing areas have decreased their sales abroad.
The sector concentrates 70% of the companies in the Northwest region, especially in Caravaca de la Cruz, Cehegín, Bullas and Moratalla, although there are other producing centers in Alhama de Murcia, Yecla, Totana and Abanilla.
