The City of Caravaca de la Cruz met yesterday with a group of neighbors who moved a situation of uncertainty due to the lack of information for the non-tourist use that was Hotel 'El Llano', dependent on the Consortium of the Roads Greens from the Region of Murcia.
The Department of Social Services of the City of Caravaca, which has no competence in the matter addressed below and until then had not received notification or official information in this regard, has held meetings with representatives of the Foundation 'Arcos del Castillo' , and wants to make public the information collected:
-At present in the hotel 'El Llano' a provisional group of 28 minors, protected by the Autonomous Community, is lodged provisionally, within the care program technically known as MENAS (unaccompanied foreign minors), managed by the 'Arcos Foundation of the Castle. '
-The Minister of Family and Equality of Opportunities of the Autonomous Community, through its General Directorate of Social Policy and the Foundation 'Arcos del Castillo', is the competent body to provide protection to these children and young people for legal and humanitarian reasons.
-The Foundation 'Arcos del Castillo' has reached an agreement with the company that currently manages the Hotel 'El Llano', whose ownership belongs to the Consortium of Greenways, so that temporarily - for about three months - these minors can stay and receive the care they need in this facility, attended at all times by a team of mediators and psychologists, until they have the new reception center in Murcia.
-The director of the aforementioned foundation, Judit García Álvarez, also points out that these minors do not have any type of judicial measure imposed, since they have not committed any crime, but are in a situation of lack of protection, being the obligation of the administration competent to provide them with the basic and specific attention they require for their age for their normalization and social integration.
- Within the MENA program, last year 2017 330 unaccompanied foreign minors were attended, mostly from Algeria (90%), who reached the coasts of the Region in different waves of arrivals of immigrants in pateras throughout the year .
