During the month of October the exhibition hall of the former Jesuit houses the exhibition "Castles of Al-Andalus", a complete sample that approximates the visitor to the cultural wealth of peoples who invaded the peninsula in the eighth century taking as reference the castle.
The exhibition was inaugurated this morning by the mayor of Caravaca, Domingo Aranda, and business area director of La Caixa, Rio Rosario, who have encouraged all caravaqueños to discover through the architecture and lifestyles how Spain was the Andalusian.
La Obra Social de La Caixa and the city of Caravaca presented in this exhibition realistic scenery, models, scientific reproductions of works of art and other objects that show how construction methods were used, strategic and military value, how their weapons , culture and everyday life.
For each of these areas has created a soundscape and literary texts have been selected to help revive and understand this period of our past.
The old Society of Jesus is structured into three main sections, where the viewer is a geographical and historical introduction, followed by four galleries devoted to architecture, war, communications and daily life.
The last section of the exhibition recreates the interior of a castle with two distinct spaces, one dedicated to the men and the other women and children.
This last area shows the role of women in the cultural explosion that lived Al-Andalus during the Taifa period, showing poets who managed to break the anonymity as Princess Wallada (Seville), amm to Kiram (daughter of the king of Almería ) or slave Al-'Abbadiya (gift from Denia to the sovereign prince of Seville).
