The former Jesuit will host next Monday, November 15, at 20.00 and a sample tasting of the wineries and wines of the Appellation of Origin Bullas.
The mayor, Domingo Aranda, and the president of the Control Board DO Bullas, José Sánchez, explained today that this initiative is part of the special events scheduled to mark the Holy Year 2010 and that the purpose is to promote the environmental and quality the vineyards of the area.
Sample wines and wineries are carried out with the collaboration of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water in the Region of Murcia, the city of Caravaca de la Cruz and the Association of Hoteliers in the city.
This activity is part of the promotional campaign that the Governing Council is carrying out in order to recognize the work of winemakers, grape growers and producers in the various municipalities which constitute the production of wines under the Denomination of Origin Bullas, within which includes the town of Caravaca de la Cruz.
In this event holds the Bullas DO give a taste the last working, in a relaxed atmosphere in which attendees can taste wines at the tasting guided by their authors.
Wineries will be present all of this young appellation of origin, who settled in different locations in the production area, as they are in Lorca: Bodegas Contreras, in Bullas: Bodegas del Rosario, Cooperativa San Isidro, Bodega and Bodega Carrascalejo Madroñal; in Mula: World Wine Cellar, in Moratalla: Bodega Tercia de Ulea; and Cehegín: Balcona Bodega, Bodega Mill and Lagares, Monastrell Bodega, Bodega Los Ceperos, Wine Cellar and Bodegas Begastri Carreño.
MONASTRELL ZONE
Producing area registered in the Control Board reaches 2,300 hectares with an annual production of 7 million kilos of grapes and a census of over 650 growers.
Wines made with the Bullas DO include the towns of Bullas, Cehegín, Mula, Pliego and Ricote and, in part, the towns of Lorca, Calasparra, Caravaca and Moratalla, with a total of 14 wineries bottling.
80 percent of production covered under this name is from the Monastrell variety, which is adapted to environmental conditions and offers interesting features fruit wines.
Other varieties include Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Grenache for the reds and pinks, Airen and Macabeo and for whites.
