The City of Caravaca, in collaboration with the Directorate General for Environmental Monitoring and Merchants Association, has launched the project "Exchange 15" for the reuse of plastic bags.
The Department of Environment will coordinate this camapaña encargarda and distribute to businesses interested some bags that can be used at least 15 times.
The campaign "Bag 15" has been presented this morning at the supermarket Consum, the first establishment of the town joined this campaign, the mayor of the Environment, Antonia M ª Álvarez, accompanied by the executive of Institutional Relations of Consum, Carmen Picot , and the president of the Merchants' Association, Alfonso Martínez.
Jorquera Alvarez has called on local food sector to join this initiative to reduce the consumption of single use bags to reuse, recycle and contribute to the sustainability of our environment.
Also been reported to have already joined this initiative 20 Caravaca establishments.
For its part, the executive Consum Institutional Relations and President of the Association of Dealers in Caravaca have stressed the importance of these campaigns "to sensitize and raise awareness of the need to reuse plastic bags, among all we can to reduce their number as establishing the National Integration Plan Waste. "
The campaign "Bag 15" is one of the actions included in the Local Agenda 21 and its aim is that citizens reuse the bags as often as possible to reduce indiscriminate distribution and consumption, for which bags will be distributed with 25 % more capacity and more durable than traditional plastic bags.
It is a hundred percent recyclable bag and its production requires less water and energy consumption than traditional plastic bags.
The Consum supermarket Caravaca de la Cruz, in collaboration with the Association of Supermarkets in the Region of Murcia (Asumur), allocated among its customers reusable bags.
20 other establishments in the town follow the example of Consum, adding to this effort over the next few days.
