The Minister of Culture and Tourism, Pedro Alberto Cruz, opened today, along with the mayor of Caravaca de la Cruz, Domingo Aranda, hostel for pilgrims 'The Station' in Caravaca de la Cruz, who will give the municipality 30 new spaces accommodation and in which the Ministry has invested a total of 428,798.51 euros.
Cruz said that "the opening of this hostel is one more step forward and a milestone in the idea of ​​sustainable tourism."
One idea, he said, "is expressed here in two ways, first reuse of old architecture, as is the old railway station, and, secondly, because it is a hostel that is added to the route existing in the greenway, for which you are investing much effort and money, and that is going to become a major tourism revitalizing the region. "
The hostel has a ground floor, where lies a common space, which is intended to cafeteria and residence or public use.
On the first floor, three dormitory rooms for up to 30 people, which have bunk beds and lockers, as well as two bathrooms with showers for men and women.
Furthermore, it has restored the old building of toilets, which is incorporated a kiosk-bar, toilets and playground.
This hostel is in addition to the two previously opened in the municipality, such as the Hotel El Llano and La Almudema, for which the Ministry of Culture and Tourism allocated EUR 1,568,000.
All three increase by 250 the number of hotel beds in Caravaca.
Also belong to the network of hostels in the hostel Greenway Station La Luz de Mula, in which the Ministry has invested 320,000 euros, that of the old station Albudeite with an investment of 58,654 euros, the shelter of the former Cehegín station that was allocated 380,000 euros, that of Alguazas with an investment of 523,030 euros, Paraje La Rafa Bullas with 500,000 euros and the shelter of the old train station in Campos del Rio with an investment of 183,672 euros , which opened last week.
