The City of Caravaca de la Cruz have been joined to the Covenant of Mayors for Energy Management Agency of the Region of Murcia to promote energy efficiency improvement and the production of clean energy while anime responsible use of it.
The deputy mayor, Amador López, today signed the accession document in a ceremony held at the Palacio de San Esteban de Murcia, which was chaired by the Minister for Universities and Research Company, Salvador Marín.
The Covenant of Mayors is a commitment to go beyond the targets set by the European Union by 2020, reducing CO2 emissions in the territory where it is applied in at least 20%.
To achieve this goal there must be a Plan of Action for Sustainable Energy in collaboration with local governments in the Region of Murcia.
With the accession to this agreement, municipalities agree to develop a baseline inventory of emissions of greenhouse gases (IRE) and a Municipal Energy Plan (PAES).
In this regard, the City of Caravaca and is driven action in energy savings, as the plan which reduces lighting intensity of the 23.00 to 07.00 hours, resulting in a decrease in consumption of between 30 to 50 %.
The plan also provides that the ornamental lighting tower of El Salvador, The Temple, the Shrine, the Plaza de Toros and the church of La Concepción is off at 01.00 hours, assuming that savings of approximately 60%.
