Caravaca de la Cruz was the city chosen to host the seat of the Centre for Rural Development and Local Employment of the Region of Murcia.
This is an initiative promoted by the University of Murcia and Cartagena University, in collaboration with the City of Caravaca de la Cruz and the National University of Distance Education (UNED).
The councilor in charge of the municipal areas of Economy and Employment, Salvador Gomez, who attended yesterday's presentation of the project, said the observatory will promote sustainable development initiatives and support to rural, focusing specially in the tourism sector.
The Centre for Rural Development and Local Employment in the Region of Murcia, which will be based on the extent of UNED of Caravaca de la Cruz is located on the fairway, aims "to value the cultural and social in rural areas, beyond the economic situation ", as explained Professor of Applied Economics at the University of Murcia, Francisco Carreño.
Some of the actions envisaged in this respect are the opening of a library and documentation center and holding rural university extension courses and lectures.
In addition, the headquarters will serve as a meeting and collaboration among all people of the region with initiatives related to the promotion and development of rural and natural heritage.
In this regard, Francisco Carreño pointed out that this objective is "to influence the knowledge of the rural areas of Murcia from the point of view of research, primarily examining the potential of territories of different municipalities."
The presentation was held yesterday at the old Society of Jesus was attended by students from the master of Local Development and Employment of the Polytechnic University of Murcia and Cartagena, with the master students of Rural Development at the University of Cordoba, which these days make their study tour of the Shire.
