Caravaca de la Cruz will be the official headquarters of the Tourist Consortium of the Northwest Greenway, which places its permanent office in the renovated facilities of the former railway station, sharing the building with a hostel for pilgrims.
The new headquarters will work on the implementation of the Program Revitalisation and Enhancement of the Northwest Greenway, which, with a duration of nine months, priority will work to promote the valuable cultural heritage and landscape of the area.
With funding from the European Social Fund and the Regional Employment and Training, has hired a community educator for the achievement of European projects and activities in the promotion and enhancement of the Greenway.
Tourist Consortium of the Northwest Greenway was created for technical cooperation, economic and administrative Greenway and municipalities that comprise it.
The consortium consists of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Region of Murcia and the municipalities through which passes the Greenway: Murcia, Molina de Segura, Alguazas, Campos del Rio, Albudeite, Mula, Bullas, Cehegín and Caravaca de la Cruz.
Since its inception, have launched several projects to promote the route as a major nature trails in the region and as a way of pilgrimage to Caravaca.
The creation of the Hostel or signaling landscape scenarios are some of the actions executed.
