The writer Murcia Santiago Martinez Delgado was the winner of the novel "Caravaca, Holy City", worth 7,000 euros for his work "The heart of the cross."
The event has enjoyed an excellent reception in its first edition since the original 64 have been presented not only from Spain but also from Ecuador, Mexico, Argentina, Venezuela and the U.S., among others.
The winning play is set in the Middle Ages and tells the story of a German pilgrim who came to Jerusalem in fulfillment of a promise and there will be requested to take the full string holy relic of the True Cross of Caravaca.
The jury for the prize fail was chaired by Professor of the University of Murcia Francisco Florit, and the same have also formed part of the professors of this institution Francisco Javier Díez de Revenga and Fernando Castillo, along with the official chronicler of Caravaca de la Cruz, Jose Antonio Melgares.
The prize, funded by Caja Mediterranean and organized by the University of Murcia and Autonomous Region was convened several months ago and at their bases explained that the novel had to refer both to the path of Vera Cruz and the municipality.
The work will be published by Editions Three Borders
Santiago Martinez Delgado (Murcia, 1949) is Professor of Literature, Doctor of Letters and of the Royal Academy of Alfonso X of Murcia.
He has published over twenty books, story, essay and poetry, and collaborated with various media.
