The general strike called by the CCOO, UGT and other unions and parties is indeed perfectly legal and legitimate when considering cuts labor rights involved in labor reform approved by Decree-Law, by the PP government (although processed as an Act of Parliament, which will follow the political debate and propose amendments as will UPyD). However, this general strike has been called not only against the government's labor reform-reform Rajoy not share-but against any labor reform to amend the current labor market.
Well, UPyD considered essential to a labor reform to end the unjust and economically disastrous labor market duality, divided by historical contracts with union rights and precarious contracts much worse.
We propose, as you know, end the current variety of contracts and approve a permanent single contract with severance pay increases with time, and very few clear exceptions (contracts strictly temporary replacements, agriculture and tourism). The organizers of the general strike of 29 also are against welfare reform as proposed UPyD, reason enough for us not to support the general strike, and criticize the stagnant conservatism of traditional unions and parties that support them.
For this reason, recognizing the legality of the strike call and the existence of supporting reasons, we will not support or vote, or subscribe in any way, any initiatives in favor of the strike.
In addition, we will ask to be respected and the right to strike, also to respect the right to work of those who do not share.
I insist on the importance of eliminating a dual labor market unfair, discriminatory (especially for youth, women and immigrants) and cause of much of the current unemployment, especially youth unemployment intolerable.
