In relation to the press release issued by the Municipal Socialist Group on the status of Mother Carmelite Convent and its public opening request from the Department of Culture and Tourism want to point out the following:
-The team of Local Government is in favor of this property, private ownership, can be opened to the public, as was done in the open days and other specific events.
In fact, in recent months there have been discussions and has formally requested in writing to the owners of the building that it can be visited on the occasion of the launch of the "Twin Cities by Santa Teresa".
- The Councillor for Culture and Tourism participated in meetings to coordinate the project "by Santa Teresa Towns", driven Consistory of Avila and the Discalced Carmelite Order and which will participate 17 Spanish cities to mark the Centennial V Santa.
This project aims to create new main pilgrimage routes entering the supply of existing religious tourism in Spain.
- On the other hand, despite being a private property, the municipal officers are aware of any damage that may occur outside the building, reporting immediately to their owners for repair, as has happened recently in the wake of last autumn rains .
It is also the responsibility of the autonomous region and control the inventory of the works cataloged in the Convent, being a Cultural Property, so it will request a new inspection of the building.
