The Department of Environment of the City of Caravaca de la Cruz, in collaboration with the National Environmental Education Center (CENEAM) and Public Water Utility (EPA), has launched the "Green Homes", involving A total of 15 families caravaqueñas.
This environmental initiative will be developed during the period of one year and its main objective is to promote energy conservation in everyday habits and behaviors of families.
"In the first of the scheduled talks, technicians have explained that it is a collective challenge to create greener homes, trying to reduce CO2 emissions and saving resources and energy," as detailed Councilwoman Maria Antonia Alvarez Jorquera.
Also, the first eco-meeting technicians Public Water Utility have exposed various saving measures, how to interpret correctly the water bill and how to install systems such as faucet aerators and shower aerators.
The day concluded with the delivery of a "saving kit" composed of light bulbs, power strips with switch, water saving devices, digital timer, led bulbs, led dynamo flashlight and a reusable bag.
Participating families "Green Homes" undertake to attend "eco-meetings" quarterly, which will address topics such as recycling, mobility and fair trade.
In addition, workshops will be held to encourage saving measures.
In Spain there are about 1,000 families who already participate in the program "Green Homes".
In the Murcia Region, have joined this project municipalities of Murcia, Molina de Segura and Caravaca de la Cruz.
For its launch in Caravaca, the City has the support company Leroy Merlin and Hardware caravaqueña Sáez, facilitating material and discounts to participating families.
In the first phase, participants are challenged to save on your household a significant amount of water and energy.
To do this, use the "Savings Kit", besides attending the aforementioned "eco-meetings" and workshops.
The results of the program will be measured after one year in a final evaluation, checking the amount of water and electricity bills at the beginning and end.
