Ten young people from Caravaca de la Cruz have participated in the European Youth Meeting (Europan-Youth-Meeting) held from 24 to 28 July in the city of Mikolow, in southern Poland.
The caravaqueños have been accompanied by another 100 young people from various cities in Germany, Portugal, Italy, Czech Republic, Austria, Slovakia and Poland.
The Youth Council of the City of Caravaca selected the 10 young people through a lottery conducted among the finalists of the anti-smoking program "Healthy Travel".
"The boys and girls have lived a very enriching experience, sharing unforgettable experiences with youth from different cultures," said the councilor responsible for the area of ​​Youth, Antonia Maria Alvarez Jorquera, following the conclusion of this meeting funded by European programs and by participants.
During the five-day stay in Mikolow, participants attended workshops on environmental issues, using the facilities of the botanical garden of the Polish city, and have visited the city of Krakow and the Auschwitz concentration camp.
Also acted in the closing ceremony of the meeting where they showed the culture of each of the eight participating countries.
On the other hand, the authorities representing each country used the European Youth Meeting to share and strengthen youth policies such meetings to maintain momentum, knowledge of other cultures and youth mobility.
Caravaca de la Cruz was the host city of the Europan-Youth-Meeting in 2009.
