The City of Caravaca de la Cruz has made annual grants to local branches of Caritas.
The Department of Social Welfare has allocated a total of 18,500 euros to projects and actions that are managed through volunteer from the organization.
The three delegations existing Caritas in Caravaca de la Cruz have divided the amount of 18,000 euros to cover basic needs of its users and the remaining 500 euros have been allocated to the project to assist those affected by the typhoon in the Philippines.
This collaboration of the City of Caravaca is used in the purchase of perishable foods to complete the batch received from the National Fund for Food and divided among the families with basic needs and vulnerable and / or social exclusion.
In this sense, Councilwoman Mulero Carmen Ruiz explained that the aid has been effective in two payments made at the beginning and end of the year.
The mayor said "the important work they do all Caritas volunteers in these times, assisting many people facing financial hardship through the food bank and other social action programs."
In addition, in 2013, the Department of Social Development has awarded 8,000 euros other aid to the local branch of the Red Cross, 6,000 euros to a hospice of Caravaca, 1,000 euros to the Friends of the Saharawi People Foundation Help and 1,000 euros Development for Education (FADE).
The total amount of aid to associations and charitable organizations in 2013 amounted to 34,500 euros.
