The mayor, accompanied by Council of Tourism and Sports and representatives of the Brotherhood of the Vera Cruz, on Friday received the pilgrims from the Friends of the Bicycle of Murcia (Bicimur), which for the second year have completed the Camino de la Vera Cruz.
Last year Bicimur components made the Way of the True Cross on country roads and on this occasion by designing a path consisting of seven stages through paved roads.
It is a project supported by the Department of Tourism of the City of Caravaca de la Cruz, with the sponsorship of the kits labeled with the image of the Holy Year 2017.
El Camino de la Vera Cruz begins in Puente La Reina and relies on traditional routes linking major different parts of the route, spanning almost one hundred municipalities in the autonomous community of Navarre, Aragon, Valencia, Castile-La Mancha Region of Murcia.
This route, besides serving pilgrimage route, allows its use by others motivated by a cultural or sporting interest, which is a source of opportunities for socio-economic development of the territories through and for the recovery of their natural heritage and culture.
