The director of the Institute of Tourism of the Region of Murcia, Mariola Martinez said that the inclusion of Caravaca de la Cruz on Route Pilgrimage 'Footsteps of St Teresa' 2015 will attract more pilgrims and tourists to the town.
Martinez recently attended a meeting to define the Action Plan for the Promotion and Marketing of the route held in Madrid, which was chaired by Director General Turespa, Martha White, and attended by representatives and experts from the 17 municipalities involved in this initiative, along with the CEOs of Tourism of the Autonomous Communities of Andalusia, Castilla la Mancha and Castilla y León, to which belong the cities that will run the route.
Mariola Martinez explained, "the meeting was very successful and served to specify the actions to promote this project by the year 2015, among which professional conferences, road-shows', familiarization trips and presence in major fairs religious tourism in Europe. "
The 17 cities where Santa Teresa founded convents and participating in the initiative are Avila, Alba de Tormes, Salamanca, Segovia, Medina del Campo, Valladolid, Palencia, Soria, Burgos, Pastrana, Toledo, Malagon, Villanueva de la Jara, Sevilla, Beas de Segura, Granada and Caravaca de la Cruz.

'Footprints of Santa Teresa 2015' is an initiative launched to mark the fifth centenary of the birth of St. Teresa.
The director of the Tourism Institute have highlighted the importance of Caravaca de la Cruz to the event and said "will be a focus of attraction for pilgrims over, and strengthen the role of religious destiny Caravaca as nationally and internationally."
Here, Martinez noted "the implication that showed the city of Caravaca in this project, as he goes around to offer tourism experiences, pilgrimage and cultural adapted to all kinds of travelers."
Mariola Martinez concluded by noting that "this shared product will promote unity and cooperation among all cities in Santa Teresa convent foundations made, and will represent a unique opportunity for Teresa in the Footsteps of Spain".
'Footsteps of St Teresa' is a free route, without time limit, which allows multiple options and that is adapted to the needs of tourists and pilgrims.
The idea raises a credential seal in at least four of the 17 cities included belonging to two different regions, and go to the office Pilgrim Ávila for the distinction that proves to know the 'footprint Teresa'.
Internationally, the route will be promoted in Italy, Portugal, France, Poland, Germany, UK, Ireland, USA, Brazil, Mexico and Argentina, South Korea, Philippines and China.
