The City of Caravaca de la Cruz was one of those selected by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) as an example in implementing EU funds in employment policy institutions.
In the afternoon yesterday, Councilman Employment and Urban Development, Salvador Gómez, participated, along with its counterpart in the Cordoba town of Lucena, in a paper entitled "Panel of local experiences of implementation of EU funds in employment" held at the headquarters of the FEMP, with numerous technical areas of economic development of local authorities across Spain.
The caravaqueño mayor presented the projects currently underway, such as the mixed employment and training program on foreign trade, which involved 15 young caravaqueños and is funded with 229,274 euros from the Regional Employment and Training (SEF) and the European Social Fund.
Students are unemployed university education and Intermediate they are receiving a specific qualification in international trade, an area where job opportunities that currently exist thanks to traditional sectors such as footwear, manufacturing or canning are regaining its momentum by exports.
Gomez also referred to the employment program in archaeological heritage restoration, which has generated 32 jobs during the period of one year and is endowed with 500,000 euros of aid from the European Fund for Rural Development and the "Leader" program .
"In addition to programs of foreign trade and recovery of assets, in Caravaca de la Cruz we have had in recent years with 8 workshops employment, they have emerged at least nine business initiatives and allowed for interesting projects in construction and services for the benefit of local society ", as detailed Salvador Gómez.
Another experience discussed during the presentation was the "Aurora Program" held last year in Caravaca to provide entrepreneurial skills to 25 women in rural areas.
Thanks to this program, several projects in the sectors of antique furniture, pickles, natural cosmetics and rural tourism materialized.
Moreover, in these days of the FEMP the new operational programs of EU funds for 2014-2020 and the support available for municipalities in employment through various funds and the new Youth Guarantee program addressed .
