The more than 70,000 negatives that make this file are being digitized and displayed to the public progressively
The Department of Culture of the City of Caravaca de la Cruz celebrates the fourth edition of the exhibition "60 years of photography. File Martínez-Litrán".
The exhibition, located in the former Jesuit, can be visited until February 13, from 11.00 to 13.30 and from 17.30 to 20.30.
This year another unpublished part of the file is displayed after the restore process, scanning and digitizing of negatives.
The exhibition consists of 4,000 images, two types of photographs;
for side portraits made between the sixties and early eighties and group photos special moments in the history of Caravaca de la Cruz, including the first Mass celebrated after the Civil War or the first images of schools, the football team or band of Caravaca.
A collection of rare photographs, such as the composer Martinez Nevado with a group of friends or visiting artists Manolo Valderrama and Dolores Abril to the eye doctor Miguel Robles home are also shown.
The photographic collection Martínez-Litrán belongs to the Municipal Archives of Caravaca de la Cruz and is composed of over 70,000 negatives studio founded in the early 20s by José Martínez Salinas and continued, from the 60s, by Alfonso Litrán Nogueras.
In recent years, the Department of Culture is working on the recovery of these images, with which you can perform a review of the caravaqueña twentieth-century society.
The Department of Culture will provide free photographs to family members who are interested in keeping them.
To do this you just need to write the code that accompanies each image and fill out a form available at the entrance of the exhibition or communicate such code through email areadecultura@caravacadelacruz.es.
Moreover, on the website of the City, www.caravaca.org, you can access the file share that is already digitized.
Over 8,000 photographs, arranged in different categories.
