The book "Rafael Tegeo. From classic theme to portrait romantic" is presented next Friday, February 27, at 20.00 in the Plenary Hall of the City of Caravaca de la Cruz.
The publication dedicated to caravaqueño artist, is the work of academic Martín Páez Burruezo and for editing has helped the City of Caravaca de la Cruz, through its Department of Culture.
The book is presented as part of a special session of the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de Santa María de la Arrixaca of Murcia, convened in Caravaca de la Cruz as a tribute to Rafael Tegeo.
The event will be presented by the academic Indalecio Pozo.
Subsequently, will speak author and director of the Academy, Francisco Marín, and close the ceremony the mayor, Domingo Aranda.
Martín Páez, who has made a thorough study of the personality and work of the painter and the great impact achieved in the artistic circles of the time, believes that "was the most important portraitist of the early nineteenth century."

Rafael Tegeo (1798 -1856) was born in Caravaca de la Cruz and was a leading figure in the cultural landscape of the early nineteenth century, not only in the Region of Murcia, but in the national assembly, being painter Elizabeth II .
He was a disciple of the painter José Aparicio in Madrid and later moved to Paris and Rome (1824-1827), where he expanded his artistic training.
In his work, neoclassical roots, a deep romantic view of life is seen at a time.
He cultivated mythological themes and other romantic taste.
He participated in the decoration of the Teatro Real in Madrid.
Tegeo served as political in Madrid, where he was alderman and attorney Constitutional City.
