Members of the Confederation of Forest Owners of Spain (COSE) met in Caravaca de la Cruz to hold its annual general meeting.
The mayor, José Moreno;
accompanied by the Councillor for Agriculture and Environment, Enrique Fuentes, and deputy director of Forest Policy of the Ministry of Water, Agriculture and Environment of the Region of Murcia, Juan de Dios Cabezas, they have accompanied the current president of the organization, Francisco Carreño during the opening of the day.
COSE is a state-level forest organization formed in mid-eighties with the aim of bringing together forest owners associations from different regions, providing a framework to agree their ideas on forest issues and make them available to the public and administrations.
Representatives of local and regional authorities have shown their support and willingness to work with them on initiatives that contribute to the development, management and conservation of the environment.
In this sense, the caravaqueño mayor pointed out that "a third of the entire national territory belongs private forest owners" and therefore "they are guarantors of an important natural heritage."
