Coinciding with the Day of John of the Cross, patron of Spanish poets, Councillor for Culture in the City of Caravaca de la Cruz, Oscar Martinez, announced that the Youth Literary Contest Albacara be convened on 20 January, with news on the basis that regulate it in order to make it more participatory, through social networks.
In the event, held at the House of Culture Emilio Saez, the mayor was accompanied by the prior of the Carmelite community in Caravaca, Father Pascual Gil, and the head of the Public Library, Jose Antonio Martinez.
Among the novelties of the call is that jobs can be sent via email, be posted on the blog of the library and vote by 'Like' on the social network Facebook, which will be assessed by the jury when to award the prizes of the six categories.
Another change is that the awards will be presented to coincide with the week of the feast of Carmen, in mid-July, and the next edition will be convened on the day of John of the Cross.
The Albacara contest is open for participation of students from Primary and Secondary schools in the Northwest Region and Rio Mula.
The literary competition was created in 1972, linked in the first stage to the Carmelite Fathers and Edith Stein Club and later summoned by the Department of Culture of the City of Caravaca.
This is one of the oldest youth literary contests of those held in Spain and aims to promote a taste for literature among children and young people and promote new values ​​in this field.
