The event, which is open to all interested persons of all ages and will be held in the hamlet of Las Fuentes del Marqués, next to the tower, from 10.00 to 17.00.
During the day anillarán birds and tables with literature copies and an information panel will be installed.
Bird banding is a practice used to meet local and migratory movements dispersive scientific purposes.
At this time of year species, from other places, wintering in our lands anneal.
Some come from northern Europe, such as the blackcap, others are local, they remain here throughout the year, such as sparrows and buntings.
Environment Councilman Enrique Fuentes, stressed the importance of such activities and said that "birds are good bioindicators of climate change; a good example is the Dunnock, species from northern Europe, which usually wintered in these lands and that he has probably changed their wintering sites, since several years have not been observed. "
The data obtained with this practice are transferred to Bird Migration Center, which is the regulatory body of scientific activity in this area, belonging to the Spanish Ornithological Society (SEO).
The only two groups banding Murcia are Anse and Caralluma, the latter is doing this practice uninterruptedly since 1978.
The day of ornithology is part of the plan of collaboration of the Department of Environment of the City of Caravaca de la Cruz with environmental education activities carried out in the town throughout the year.
