More than 70 birds, seven species were ringed during the day ornithology held yesterday in Las Fuentes del Marqués.
Those responsible for carrying out this activity were members of the Association for the Defense of Nature Caralluma and the Association of Southeast Naturalists (Anse), in collaboration with the Department of Environment of the City of Caravaca de la Cruz.
The day was an important participatory and educational aspect, as were many children and adults who came to the caravaqueño place to learn the process of bird banding and the objectives pursued with this practice, such as knowing the local dispersive movements Migrant and scientific purposes.
The activity was also organized with an environmental objective, since the experts could see little or no presence 'dunnock' species from northern Europe, which usually wintered in these lands and that has probably changed their wintering sites as result of climate change.
Among the 71 birds that were ringed and studied by the weight, type of plumage and wing size, include copies of the common bush, fat peak, Blackcap, Chiffchaff, Sparrow and tit.
During the day ornithology nests for the lesser kestrel, a summer insectiva prey, moving the field of Caravaca and then migrate to Africa they were also produced.
By the middle of next February other activities will be held to install existing nests and disinfect affected by mites.
The data to be transmitted to the Center of Bird Migration, which is the regulatory body of scientific activity in this area, belonging to the Spanish Ornithological Society (SEO).
The day of ornithology is part of the plan of collaboration of the Department of Environment of the City of Caravaca de la Cruz with environmental education activities carried out in the town throughout the year.
