The Municipal People have registered a motion asking that the City initiate proceedings to name Son of the City of Caravaca de la Cruz writer Luis Leante (Caravaca de la Cruz, 1963).
The Municipal People's Party spokesman at City Hall, José Francisco Garcia, explained that "we have an established writer with an award-winning career that has always been proud of his roots and has made our city and its history scene of some of his novels ".
Garcia recalled that in 2007 was a preacher of the Fiestas de la Vera Cruz de Caravaca.
"He has collaborated on numerous occasions in the Book Fair, signing copies of their works and offering literary talks. He has also participated altruistically in cultural activities in different schools in the municipality, spreading the love of literature," he added.
Luis Leante has cultivated various literary genres from the story or novel to screenplay through poetry or essay.
Degree in Classical Philology at the University of Murcia worked as a high school teacher until 2009.
The big boost to his career came in 2007 when he won the Alfaguara Prize with the novel 'See if I will love you', with which it became known to the public and established him as a writer.
A few days ago he won the XXIV Leante Edebé Jugendliteraturpreis by the novel 'Flee not look back'.
His work has been translated into many languages.
His first novel, "Red Road jueves', published in the twenties and is set in Caravaca de la Cruz.
Then came other titles such as 'The Last Voyage of Ephraim', 'The breeder of canaries', 'Landscape with river and Baracoa background', 'Silver Age', 'Red Moon' or 'The song of zaigú' or 'The Flight of the termites'.
He has also published several novels juveniles as 'Rebellion in New Granada'.
