The Municipal Socialist Group will present in plenary tomorrow, as a matter of urgency, a motion which claims that the municipality caravaqueño participate in commemorating the 75 anniversary of the commissioning of the railway line that connected Murcia and Caravaca.
The commemorative events will be organized by the Friends of the Railway Association and is "a perfect opportunity for many people to remember our past, and many others not lived it, know some of the history of our city."
"The railway stopped service in 1971 and since then, and for a long time especially our city and other towns in the region were pushed into a deep problem of communication."
The Socialists, in the words of the rapporteur of the motion Alfonso Sanchez, consider that "collective memory is important to not to fall into oblivion and appreciate the role that ultimately led to the railway line between us and Murcia, and in this way promote actions aimed at their possible recovery in a time when there is a need to promote the use of public transport. "
The agreements sought by the motion "on the one hand provide for the City Council to express caravaqueño Friends of the Railway Association requesting that the commemorative exhibition can be displayed in our city and on the other side urges the General Directorate and the Ministry of Culture, through the General Directorate of Fine Arts and Cultural Rights, to cooperate with the development of this event for their cultural relevance.
