Biography:
Domènec Campillo (1927) is an internationally renowned scientist in the field of study of ancient diseases.
In his career he has managed to combine his career as a neurosurgeon with scientific research and university teaching.
Honorary Member of the Spanish Society of Paleopathology, President of the Catalan-Balear Society of Paleopathology and Head of the Laboratory of Paleopathology and Paleoanthropology of the Museu d'Arqueologia de Catalunya, has been Professor of History of Science and Paleoanthropology at the University of Barcelona between 1972 and 1997.
Author of over 200 specialist books, among which Paleopathology of the skull in Catalonia, Valencia and the Balearic Islands (1977), Disease in Prehistory (1983) and Paleopathology, the first traces of the disease (1993), has trained many professional researchers are now known and has made the Spanish Paleopathology mandatory reference in international scientific forums.
