The College of Education and Primary Virgen de la Candelaria in the hamlet of Barranda caravaqueña developed a project to promote the sport through new technologies as a tool to transmit prosocial values that has been selected for the national stage Award Master of Action 2008.
The project is titled "Open House.
In Pursuit of Happiness', the Jury will be announced in September and awards will be presented in early October by Her Majesty the Queen, Honorary President of the Foundation for Help Against Drug Addiction (FAD).
The school's educational project Barranda, regional finalist in the Master Action Award 2008, with the collaboration, as in previous editions of the Ministry of Education, Science and Research.
The project's main objective is to promote the sport within and outside the school, incorporating it as a healthy habit and alternative leisure time, working in parallel the values of respect and coexistence.
With the participation of teachers, teaching and training roles to play as well as families, the Association of Parents of Students, local associations, as Aguilanderos Cycling Club, neighborhood associations, City of Caravaca de la Cruz and the Museum Ethnic Music, among others.
The project includes, depending on the needs and interests of students, a number of recreational and leisure activities gradually and with the help of new technologies (Information Technology and Communication)-as a powerful means of motivation and facilitation -learning, incorporating the acquisition of various educational values.
In this sense, the project presents an essentially active and participative methodology based on integrating principle of solidarity where the student is the real protagonist in the independent learning of certain educational values provided by the sport as a means of personality development and prevention against certain social risk behaviors.
The activities take place in several phases, during school and another in the summer.
Some of the proposals are the Mini Olympics sports and culture, the School of Adult, Encounters Intercentros, sports schools, competitions or Gymkhana Grand Prix.
The Master Action Award is to distinguish and disseminate educational projects developed during the 2007/2008 school year in kindergarten, primary or special education to work specifically with the establishment of pro-social values among students, such as solidarity, tolerance, gender equality or respect, to help prevent social risk behaviors such as drug use, violence in the classroom or racism.

The award is a prize of 9,000 euros for the professor or professors have created the project and another 9,000 for the school that develops award-winning experience, provided by BBVA.
The Jury will be announced at the end of next September.
