Book Project has completed the collection of more than 2,000 pounds of books and school supplies.
With the selection of material deposited in the containers have concluded the initiative launched through the joint efforts of the Directorate General of the Environment and the Department of Environment.
Caravaca has been one of the municipalities of the Region of Murcia where there has been a higher rate of participation, both in terms of number of environmental volunteers and the amount of material collected.
The Book Project, whose motto is "Share the recycling culture," closed last Saturday Ecoparque facilities where some 50 volunteers gathered to separate environmental and package all the material deposited by caravaqueños since last September in the different containers installed in the municipality.
Most volunteers came from the secondary schools Gines Perez Chirinos and Oróspeda.
The material collected will be sent shortly to schools and libraries in Peru and Nicaragua.
Thus, while promoting the reuse of obsolete books, it contributes to the advancement of disadvantaged countries of Hispanic speech.
The Councillor for Environment, Antonia M ª Álvarez, went to the EcoPark to thank all the volunteers the work done.
The mayor said that "given the excellent response was obtained both by citizens and by volunteers, is expected to repeat this project and to collaborate with this initiative, which has an environmentally and solidarity."
