The City of Caravaca, with the collaboration of the Federation of Municipalities and Regional Government, will implement the Agenda 21, which is the design and implementation of a municipal strategic plan for sustainable development and environmental quality of the municipality.
This initiative has been launched today the Director General of Planning, Evaluation and Environmental Control, Francisco Espejo, the director of Agenda 21 of the Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia, José Padilla, and Council Member for the Environment, Antonia Maria Alvarez .
Agenda 21 included a package of measures for the proper exploitation of natural resources like water, waste and energy.
The action plan will be approved in plenary session after completing an environmental diagnosis based primarily on resident participation.

The concept of Local Agenda 21 has its origin in the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development or "Earth Summit" in Rio de Janeiro in 1992.
