The opportunities that the next Holy Year 2010 for the tourism sector in the region have been analyzed in the framework of the III Regional Conference on Rural Tourism through a talk given by the Councillor for Tourism in the city of Caravaca, Gonzalo López- Auguy.
Previously, the conference was opened by the Mayor of Caravaca, Domingo Aranda, the director of Rural Development, Julio A.
Bernal, and Associate Center Director of the Open University in Cartagena, Juan Antonio Cavas, who spoke of the challenges, difficulties and opportunities of rural tourism with a large group of university accommodation owners gathered at the convent of the Carmelite Fathers.
The conference is organized by the extension in the northwest of the UNED and the Department of Applied Economics at the University of Murcia.
Over three days we will analyze the impact of economic crisis in rural tourism, as well as some of the characteristics that should define the development of tourism such as cultural heritage preservation and environmental and sustainable use of resources natural.
The conference will continue today, Tuesday, at 17.00 with a panel discussion on the new programming of EAFRD funds will participate in rural development agents in the Northwest Region and Tourism Councillor Cehegín Francisco in April.
Subsequently, we will start another round table on the revitalization of rural tourism moderated by Carmen Alvarez, president of the newly created Federation of Rural Tourism in the Region of Murcia.
