The Minister of Tourism, Pedro Alberto Cruz, visited, accompanied by the mayor of Caravaca, Domingo Aranda, the construction of the hostel in El Llano, one of the three shelters for pilgrims in the city designed to improve infrastructure ahead of the next Holy Year 2010.
The hostel, distributed in fifty rooms on three floors, have the capacity to accommodate 200 people, expandable to 300 with the installation of bunk beds in rooms designed for large groups.
The total cost of this facility amounts to 1,249,000 euros, an amount that has been provided by the Autonomous Community and the City of Caravaca investment within the Greenway Consortium.
The hamlet of El Llano is located in an area close to the sources of the marquis and the village at the foot of a natural area set out in the Nature Network.
Next to the hostel, will be enabled gardens and sports and recreation.
The Mayor and the Minister of Tourism have referred to this hostel as one of the key projects for the future of Caravaca, and which will reinforce significantly the number of tourist accommodation currently available to city.
In reference to the Holy Year 2010, Pedro Alberto Cruz said: "Caravaca will become the epicenter of the Region of Murcia and thanks to infrastructure such as this are going to get into the event gain the attention it deserves."
