The director of the Institute of Youth in the Region, Veronica Lopez, accompanied by the Councillor for Youth of Caravaca de la Cruz, María Antonia Alvarez, today visited the young people involved in the field of international archaeological work taking place in the site of the 'Cerro de las Fuentes', in the hamlet of Archivel caravaqueña.
This year the work camp is home to 22 volunteers, aged 18 to 26 years, from Spain, Italy, France, Finland, South Korea and Mexico.
For 15 days, from July 26 to August 9, participants will work in the excavation of archaeological 'Cerro de las Fuentes', a small settlement of about 4,400 square meters with a castle late-Roman Republican Civil War between Julius Caesar and Pompey the Great, accompanied by an original first-century defense system a.

Youth develop cleaning of the excavation, namely the deposit area located between the two gate towers of the castellum, in rooms that flank the entrance hall and the building of the wall structures of the Roman republican phase and houses Emirate.
During this work will be carried out registration procedures stratigraphic record sheets, drawings of plants and sections, archaeological photography and insertion of the structures exposed in the general topography of the site.
In addition, complementary activities are planned for leisure, cultural and ethnographic visits to different cities of the Region, activities entertainment, parties and partying, astronomy workshops, massage and leather and thread, and environmental pathways.
The activities of the labor camps, along with the camps, are part of the campaign 'Summer Youth 2009', launched by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, through the Institute of Youth.
The total budget for this campaign is 500,000 euros, of which the Youth Institute provides 410,000 euros and 90,000 euros Mediterranean Savings Fund.
