The Minister of Social Policy, Women and Migration, Joaquín Bascuñana, began this morning the first stone of the Centre for Women in Caravaca, whose project was awarded by 509,240 euros and has a lead time of twelve months.
The new center, located on Calle Pedro Campos, next to the garden of The Cejo, will unite in a single installation of 606 square meters, various municipal services such as the Center of Services for Women Victims of Domestic Violence (CAVI), the Local Employment Centre and the Equality Authority.
The main objectives of the center are to promote women's access to the labor market and facilitate the reconciliation of family life and work.
It also aims to promote information, training rooms and Internet access as a tool for development and training.
During the past year, the Ministry established a decree of direct subsidy to the municipalities in the region to build and improve women's centers for 1,130,000 euros, of which 140,000 were for Caravaca de la Cruz.
This year the City has received a grant of 500,000 euros by name.
CAVI respect to Caravaca de la Cruz, this year until Oct. 31, had served 91 new women of 2089 who attended the regional network.
Next, the counselor moved APCOM Occupational Center, where they form a hundred users with intellectual disabilities.
There, Joaquín Bascuñana opened a shop dedicated to ship handled, archiving and storage.
This project, which cost 107,091 euros, has been implemented thanks to the economic contributions of the ONCE Foundation (39,894 euros), the Obra Social Caja Madrid (12,000), City of Caravaca (land), the training centers, staff and Social Intellectual Disability (APCOM) (34,439) and the Instituto Murciano Social Action (20,758 euros).
The center serves people with intellectual disabilities in adulthood for their personal development, social and labor.
The experience shows that this activity, supplemented by a range of training and cultural activities, is effective to develop the skills of these people.
Occupational workshops offered are: binding, leather goods, spare parts mop, manipulated and florist.
The new Day Care Centre for the Elderly, with capacity for 20 users, was also inaugurated today by the Minister and is in a separate building of the Center for Senior Day seconded to IMAS, in the expansion of Caravaca de la Cruz (Avenida Juan Carlos I, 17).
The project has cost 188,931 euros and the surface is 174 square meters.
It has two rooms, one for occupational therapy and the other for various activities, including rehabilitation.
During the visit, the Minister was accompanied by the local mayor, Domingo Aranda, the managing director of IMAS, Isabel Sola, the Director General of Immigration, Development Cooperation and Volunteerism, Leopoldo Navarro, director of the Women's Institute Region, Teresa Moreno.
