The next Sunday, January 10, will celebrate the Solemn Opening of the Holy Year 2010 with a ceremony presided by Cardinal Antonio Maria Rouco Varela, archbishop of Madrid and president of the Spanish Episcopal Conference, to be held at 10.30 am on the esplanade the Real Basilica de la Vera Cruz.
At 9.00 hours the authorities will focus on the plaza of the Arch to address Mother's Convent where whites will pick up a tray with flowers and other purifications to offer to the Blessed and Vera Cruz during the Eucharist.
Before the rise of the Castle, will proceed to the opening of the Book of Pilgrim in the parish of El Salvador.
After the religious ceremony, at 13.00, will be held at the Castle a skydiving display by Sapper Squadron Air Force base Sewell.
A group of paratroopers made several releases of accuracy carrying the national flag and logo of the Holy Year 2010.
The opening ceremony of the Holy Year 2010 will be attended by the President of the Autonomous Community of Murcia, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, the President of the Regional Assembly of Murcia, Francisco Celdran, the bishop of the Diocese of Cartagena, José Manuel Plans Lorca, the government delegate in the Region of Murcia, Rafael González Tovar, as well as Municipal Corporation, the board representative of the Brotherhood of the True Cross, numerous members of the regional government and military and ecclesiastical authorities.
Also participate in the ceremony were members of the Diocesan Seminary of Cartagena, Castellón seminary and seminarians from Caravaca.
To close the acts of the Solemn Opening of the Jubilee Year 2010, at 20.00 hours, the parish of El Salvador will host a concert by the Kodaly Choir accompanied by the Cartagena Chamber Orchestra directed by José Bermejo.
The Kodály Coral path is marked by numerous awards in most state choral competitions, receiving first prize in the contest Ejea de los Caballeros, Cocentaina, Aviles, San Vicente de la Barquera, Cieza and Molina de Segura , among others.
