The play "The Venal Muse.
Production and consumption of industrial culture, "Raul Rodriguez Ferrandiz, has been awarded the prize essay VIII" Miguel Espinosa ".
This award is given annually by the City of Caravaca, through its Department of Culture, in collaboration with the Society of Philosophy of the Region of Murcia, Saavedra Fajardo Library of Hispanic Political Thought and the Directorate General for Books, Archives and Libraries .
The award, which will be presented on Jan. 23, is worth 6,000 euros.
The jury recognized the work a lucid journey through the vicissitudes of the cultural industry and commends the critical analysis that makes the concepts of "mass culture" and "cultural industry."
AUTHOR'S BIOGRAPHY
Raúl Rodríguez Ferrandiz, born in Madrid in 1966 and resident in Alicante since 1984.
Professor of the Department of Communication and Social Psychology at the University of Alicante.
Teaching materials "Semiotics of Mass Communication, History of social communication" and "semiotics of advertising."
He has published, among others, Apocalypse Show.
Intellectuals, television and end of the millennium (Madrid, Biblioteca Nueva, 2001) and Frankenstein and the plastic surgeon.
A multimedia guide to semiotics of advertising (Alicante, Publications of the University of Alicante, 2002).
This book, written together with Prof. Javier Mora and accompanied by a CD-ROM has been IV University National Publishing Award in the category "Best Electronic Publishing."
He has contributed articles in key journals of practical reason, Signa, Dialogues of the communication, Papers d'Art, Telos, Publifilia and Control.
Has been Extraordinary Doctoral Award (1998) and postdoctoral fellow at the Dipartimento di Discipline della Comunicazione, University of Bologna (2000).
Has been awarded a scholarship by the Socrates Programme for Teaching Staff Dipartimento di Scienze the della Politica e Sociologia, University of Florence (2003) and has taught in the doctoral program "Latin America in the Global System", University of Cuenca (Ecuador) (2004) and the Creative Meetings held at the University EAFIT (2006) and the University of Medellín (2007) in Colombia.
He currently heads a research project funded by the Generalitat Valenciana entitled "Cultural industries today: production, management and consumption of culture in the early twenty-first century."
