The Department of Consumer Affairs of the City of Caravaca de la Cruz Murcia and the Association of Consumers and Users (Consumur) promote and develop joint programs of cooperation on social interest related to the provision of information services, education and consumer advice .
One of the activities under the collaboration agreement is the conclusion of the Fair on Responsible Consumption, aimed primarily at children, which will be workshops with practical activities.
Consumer Councillor, Mercedes Velez, explained that this exhibition will feature several workshops on responsible consumption from various fields such as the environment, leisure, food and new technologies.
Also, throughout the year will be launched other campaigns such as that coincides with the holiday season with tips to advise consumers who may be affected by the consumerist euphoria of that time, or summer, with tips on caring for power to prevent food poisoning, sun care, recommendations to take into account for the recruitment of a trip and rebates.
Under the agreement between the City and Consumur, is also managing the Municipal Bureau of Information to Consumers (OMIC), which has among its functions the management of queries and complaints by consumers and users of Caravaca de la Cruz.
The important increase in inquiries and complaints handled in recent years.
Last year 1,354 were answered queries and complaints, compared to the 540 served in 2008.
Among the most requested by consumers and / or users of the municipality, are the power supply, mainly because of problems in billing and telecommunications.
In the case of telecommunications, the main cause for complaint is the illegal imposition of penalties after the cancellation of services.
The proceedings have been collected in a formalized protocol for the Mayor of Caravaca de la Cruz, Domingo Aranda, and the president of Consumur, Roberto Barceló.
Finally, note that next Monday, March 15, on the occasion of World Consumer Rights, is to start the program "Let's talk about consumer issues" on local radio station Radio Caravaca, which will address issues consumption of most interest to citizens, such as more frequent fraud on the market, the main problems arising from the procurement of services, the security of consumer goods and the benefits of Consumer Arbitration System, among others.
